13、in a British Standard WC pan with horizontal outlet. It should be noted that special connectors are required to connect the pan to the drainage system. It is intended that the flushing test in Appendix A shall be reviewed after a period of 12 months from the publication of this standard when test re
14、sults can be evaluated. BSI will be pleased to receive any information, based upon experience, relating to the use of horizontal outlet WC pans. 17、ritish Standard lays down requirements for dimensions (other than connecting dimensions), materials, quality and performance requirements for pedestal washdown WC pans with horizontal outlet with independent cistern to the requirements of BS 1125 or pedestal washdown WC pans with close-coupled ciste
18、rn to the requirements of BS 1125 and designed to suit the pan. 2 References The titles of the standards publications referred to in this Part of this standard are listed on the inside back cover. 3 Marking WC pans manufactured to the requirements of this standard shall be permanently marked with th
19、e following information. a) The manufacturers name or identification mark. b) The number of this British Standard, i.e. BS 5503-2 Marking shall be capable of being seen without dismantling the appliance. 4 Inspection The purchaser or his representative shall, if required, be granted facilities for t
20、he purpose of inspection of finished goods prior to delivery. 5 Rejection The purchaser shall have the option of rejecting any WC pan purporting to meet the requirements of this standard if it fails to meet any of the requirements laid down therein. Minor imperfections which do not affect the effici
21、ency or appearance of the article shall not constitute a valid reason for rejection. Section 2. Materials, construction and design 6 Materials WC pans shall be of vitreous china conforming to the requirements of BS 3402. 25、indicated in Figure 1 and Figure 2 and shall be subject to the tolerances permitted. The pan shall be provided preferably with four floor fixing holes but with not less than two floor fixing holes of a minimum diameter of 6 mm. Where only two floor fixing holes are provided, they shall be situated o
26、ne on each side of the pedestal and approximately on the centre line of the pedestal. The flushing rim and inlet shall be self-draining and shall be so constructed as to permit ready access of air to the flush pipe at the end of the flush. 8 Design The design of the WC pan shall be such that when pr
27、operly installed with a 9 litre flushing cistern at high or low level in accordance with the requirements of BS 1125 provided by the suppliers, with which the pan purports to form a suite, the pan shall, in one operation, flush satisfactorily in accordance with the requirements of Appendix A. NOTESp
28、ecial connectors, which will be specified in a new British Standard in course of preparation, are required to be used in connection with horizontal outlet WC pans. Section 3. Functional dimensions (other than connecting dimensions) 9 General WC pans shall comply with the functional dimensions given
29、in Table 1 and the connecting dimensions given in BS 5503-1. The pan
30、 to be tested shall be placed on a firm, flat, horizontal surface with its outlet discharging freely into the air above a drainage channel or other device to carry away the discharge. There shall be no obstruction within a distance of 150 mm of the pan outlet measured in the direction of the axis of
31、 the outlet. A.1.1 For pan with independent cistern. A low level cistern manufactured in accordance with the requirements of BS 1125 shall be used for the flush tests. The height of the siphon invert above the centreline of the closet inlet shall be between 520 mm and 540 mm. The flush pipe shall no
32、t penetrate the tail of the siphon further than 50 mm. The nominal bore of the flush pipe shall be 35 mm diameter. 33、 07-1999 The amount of water flushed shall be 9 + 0.5 1.0 litres the cistern delivering the amount within 6 s when tested in accordance with the rate of discharge test given in Appendix B of BS 1125:1973. The water temperature shall be between 7 C and 20 C. A.1.2 For close coupled suite. The cistern
34、 to be supplied with the pan shall be fitted to it to form the close-coupled suite. The cistern shall deliver 9 + 0.5 1.0 litres of water at a temperature between 7 C and 20 C and before each test shall be filled to the normal working level. The rate of discharge may be slower than 6 s provided that
35、 a satisfactory flush can be delivered to the WC pan to which it is connected. A.2 Specification for soft paper to be used for flushing tests. This specification is intended to standardize the paper used in the test. It is not intended as a specification for toilet paper for ordinary use; some paper
36、s which are perfectly satisfactory for ordinary use will be found to fall outside this specification. A.3 Testing A.3.1 For pan with independent cistern. Mount the pan to be tested as specified in A.1 and flush it in order to ensure that the trap is fully charged with water to the normal working lev
37、el. A.3.2 For close-coupled suite. The suite to be tested shall incorporate a cistern complying with the requirements of BS 1125 and designed to suit the pan, mounted as specified in A.1 and flushed to ensure that the trap is fully charged with water to the normal working level. In respect of the WC
38、 pan/suite, carry out the paper and ball tests (see A.3.3 and A.3.4) five times each. The trap shall be cleared completely four times out of five in each test in order that the pan/suite shall be deemed to have passed the test. The sawdust test shall be carried out once (see A.3.5). The pan/suite sh
39、all pass all three tests, A.3.3, A.3.4 and A.3.5 separately in order to be deemed efficient. A.3.3 Paper test. For each flush, drop 12 separate sheets of paper, loosely crumpled, individually into the WC pan/suite and flush the cistern within 20 s of the start of the operation. A.3.4 Ball test. The
40、ball shall be made of non-absorbent material. The relative density of the ball shall be between 1.075 and 1.080. The diameter of the ball shall be 43 0.5 mm. Place the ball into the WC pan/suite to be tested and then flush the pan/suite. A.3.5 Sawdust test. Flush the pan/suite and immediately sprink
41、le approximately 20 g of fine dry sawdust on the inside of the pan between the normal water level and the flushing rim as completely and evenly as possible. Then flush the pan/suite again. The pan/suite shall be deemed to pass this test if the unflushed area between the water surface and the undersi
42、de of the rim does not exceed 5 000 mm2. TypeSoft tissue Sheet countIf the tissue comes from a roll or packet in twin-ply form then a twin-ply sheet shall be counted as one sheet. Sheet areaSheet area shall be between 14 000 mm2 and 16 000 mm2 each side. GrammageTwelve sheets shall weigh between 6 g
43、 and 8 g, i.e. grammage of the paper shall be between 35 g/m2 and 42 g/m2. AbsorbencyTwelve sheets shall be clumped into one ball of about 50 mm diameter and dropped from a height of about 100 mm into a pool of water. The water shall be of the same source as that which is to be used for the flush te
44、st and shall be at approximately the same temperature.The time taken for the whole paper to appear saturated shall be measured. The test shall be carried out a further nine times and the average soak time calculated. If the paper is suitable, the average soak time shall fall within the range 10 s to
45、 60 s.
