8、ds Committee and incorporates requirements given in Defence Standard 81-34/2. There are some properties that are not covered by this standard. A pattern of the fabric may be obtainable from the purchaser for these properties. Supplementary information for services contracts is given in Appendix A, a
9、nd a table of cross-references between item numbers listed in this standard, pattern numbers and NATO stock numbers is given in Appendix B. Items included in Defence Standard 81-34/2 that are no longer to be provisioned are given in Appendix C for information. A British Standard does not purport to

NOTEThe titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover. 2 Fabric The fabric shall be woven wholly f
13、rom jute in a plain weave. The fabric shall be as given in Table 1. The fabric shall be rotproofed by the pentachlorophenyl laurate (PCPL) (normal) process specified in BS 2087-1. NOTEThe fabric should be uniformly woven and the selvedges should be firm and straight. Table 1 Properties of the fabric
14、 3 Sewing thread The sewing thread shall have a breaking strength of not less than 25 N when tested in accordance with BS 1932-1. Cellulosic sewing thread shall be rotproofed in accordance with the PCPL (normal) process specified in BS 2087-1. If a polypropylene sewing thread is used, it shall conta
15、in a stabilizer to inhibit degradation by ultraviolet light. 4 Manufacture Fabric shall be formed into a tube with a bias seam. The seam type shall be one of the following as described in BS 3870-2: a) type 1.20.01 for hessian with two raw edges; b) type 2.02.01 or type 1.04.01 for hessian with one
16、woven selvedge; c) type 1.01.01 or type 2.01.01 for hessian with two woven selvedges. The width of the jute hessian tubing shall be as given in Table 2. 22、ces contracts A.1 Inspection Each roll should be inspected for the presence of holes, broken threads, missed stitches, or any obvious weakness that could cause a failure of the tubing during use. Every defect should be indicated by means of a “string”, “tag”, or “sticker” at the edge. An allowance o
23、f 0.2 m for each defect should be deducted from the total length of the roll. Should the allowance for any one piece exceed 3 % of the total length, the roll will be rejected. A.2 Length of roll Unless otherwise stated in the contract or order, tubing of a given width should be delivered in rolls of
24、 approximately equal length. No roll should weigh more than 40 kg. Rolls of not more than two lengths may be accepted provided the shorter length is not less than 20 m. The position of the cut should be indicated by a string. The number of rolls containing cuts should be indicated on the inspection
25、note. A.3 Marking A ticket should be attached to each roll of tubing bearing the following particulars: a) contractors name, trade mark or initials; b) contract number; c) year of manufacture; d) mass of the roll; e) width; f) NATO stock number; g) pattern number; h) description of material; i) in a
26、ddition any such other markings as the contract or order may direct. A.4 Packaging Packaging should be in accordance with the terms of the contract.
