1、NUMBER EMS .TI-O247 ENGINEERING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION BRASIL PRODUCT ENGINEERING 03/95 1 O f 4 I I NAME: ZINC RICH-ALUMINUM BASE PAINT-HIGH TEMPERATURE RESISTANT. _ I - SCOPE: Material defined by this specification is a zinc rich/aluminum base paint, suitable to be applied over engines exhaust mani
2、folds (SIMO), or any other cast iron or steel part, wich are submitted to high temperature during regular service operation. 2 - COMPOSITION: Silicone resin, pigmented with zinc and aluminum powder, extenders, and solvents (aromatics and aliphatics) - exempt benzol and chlorinated. Note: To avoid ex
3、cessive gassing, this material is supplied in two components: (A=Zinc; B=Aluminum), which are equally mixed (volume) on dilution tanks, prior to a p p I ica t ion. 3 - PHYSICAL PROPERTIES: 3.1 - A - ZINC Paint Component (Part no. 93.229.374) 3.1.1 - Solids content: (weight) 68 - 74% -(ASTM D 1644/88
4、, Method A) 3.1.2 - Incoming Viscosity:60 - 70sec Ford Cup No4;25 O C (ASTM D 1200188) 3.1.3 - Specific Gravity: 1.920 - 2.000 g/cm3(ASTM D 1475190) 3.2 -B - ALUMINUM Paint Component (Part no. 93.228.437) 3.2.1.- Solids content: (weight) 40 - 46% (ASTM D 1644188, Method A) 3.2.2 - Incoming Viscosity

6、P N “ 4 ; 25C) , using Xylol (EMS 9.309.719), as reduction solvent. 4.2 - Thinned material must be able to be applied over sand blasted and cleaned substrate, by air/airless spraying on a smooth resulting film. (one single coat). 4.3 - Accelerated Stability : Material shall not show any viscosity in
7、crease higher than 15 seconds over incoming viscosity (FORD CUP N9 4; 25OC),when submitted to following test condition: “1/4 Gallon Can (US Gallon: 3.6L) is half filled with paint, (1450ml), closed, and placed in an air circulating oven, at 62I2“C during 16 hours. After this period, the material is
8、left to cool down to room temperature, and viscosity is rechecked as item 4. I. 4.4 - Drying 4.4.1 - Oven Drying: 15 minutes minimum, at 80 O C . (metal temperature). 4.4.2 - Air Drying: 4.4.2.1 - Tack free: 60 - 120 minutes; 4.4.2.2 - Complete : 48 hours. 4.5 - Dry film Thickness: 25 - 35 pm (ASTM
9、D 1400 - 87) 5 - Dry Film Properties (72hours aging before start testing). 5.1 - Adhesion: 100% adhered (ASTM D 3359 - 92 A Method A) 5.2 - Salt Spray Resistance: 96 hours - (Face Rust) without blistering, peeling off, loss of adhesion, and red rust (GM 4298 P - to conduct neutral salt spray test;.A
10、STM D 1654 item 8 procedure B method 1 :to evaluate and rate).Max.3% of rust is permissible, considering total area of test specimens. 5.3 - High Temperature Resistance: 1 hour at 600 O C , without showing any peel off, swelling, blistering, film degradation, excessive fume formation during test, an
11、d/or noticeable color change after test. 5.4 - Oil Resistance: (72 hours aging plus 1 hour at 200 O C before testing). Painted parts, immersed in SAE-20W50 engine oil, during 7 hours at 70 -75 O C , shall not show any significant surface change (swelling, softening, film deterioration, loss of adhes
