This specification details the requirements of an exuded, pressure sensitive sealing material. The material is intended
2、to seal body joints against water, dust and air intru- sion. This material can be used by itself as a sealer or act as a bonding medium for other parts which affect seals. odorous. 4、h- erability and must not accelerate the rusting of the substrate over which it is applied. 3.2.7 Tack (GM99OlP). Tack is either satisfactory or not sat- isfactory. Press one piece of material 25 x 25 mm onto an E- coated test panel and hold for 2 s. When the finger is lifted off, there shall be no
5、material transfer to the skin nor lifting of the sealer from the panel. This test should be repeated for any other coatings or substrates over which this material will be applied 1.3 TYPES. 3.3 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS. 5pe A: Horizontal only Applications (supercedes FBMS 9-82) Type B: Vertical or H

7、 listed under properties. 3.1 RESTRICTED AND REPORTABLE CHEMICALS (GMlOOOM). All materials supplied to this specification must comply with the requirements listed in GMlOOOM, “Restricted and Reportable Chemicals.” 3.2 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES. 3.2.1 Specific Gravity (ASTM D792): 1.0 to 2.0 typical. Howev
8、er, an individual specific gravity range for each approved source will be set at the time of approval to this specification. The specific gravity range will then become a requirement of the material. 3.2.2 Solid Content (GM9OlOP) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 97% min by weight 3.2.3 Hardness (ASTM D
9、5). The hardness checked 25C by a needle penetrometer using a 100 g total moving load and a5sdurationreadingshallbe5to15mm. 3.2.4 Bolt Penetration (Type A material only). The material must have a push-out force of less than 14 pounds. The test material thickness shall be 1.5 to 2.0 mm. 3.2.5 Odor (G
10、M9832P). The sealer must not have a toxic or noxious odor. After curing, the sealer must be relatively non- 3.3.1 Adhesion/Peel (Types A and B only). Apply one 25 x 125 mm production representative strip of sealant tape to each of 3 E-coated test panels and roll once with 2.3 kg roller. The material
11、 may have to be backed with mylar or masking tape for reinforcement during peel. Condition at room temperature for 2.0 h. After exposure to the conditions listed below, tbe 90 peel strength of the mastic to substrate shall be a minimum of 22 N per 25 mm width or cohesive separation of the mastic. Sp
12、eed of the peel shall be 300 mm/minute. 3.3.1.1 Initial: Heat Aging (336 h 7O C) Humidity (GM4465P) 168 h 37.8 C/lOO% RH Water Immersion (GM9514P) 72 h 55 C Exterior Cycle (GM9505P, Cycle F) 12 weeks 3.3.2 Cold Resistance (GM9011P). Material must not crack or lose adhesion to the substrate before or
13、 after two 1.7 J impacts -3o C. 3.3.3 Cold Flexibility (GM9503P). Material shall not crack or lose adhesion to the substrate before or after a 90” bend over a 25 mm dia mandrel -30 C. 3.3.4 Torque Testing (Type C only). This test is to determine the amount of torque loss due to stud sealer when test
14、ed as fol- lows: Obtain 10 stud assemblies and apply sealer to 5 of the studs and install nuts on all 10 studs. Record the amount of static torque applied to the nuts. After 24 h recheck the torque on all 5 studs with the sealer as well as the ones without sealer. The amount of torque applied and th
