This standard covering Metric Hex Flange Head Bolts conform
2、s in all essentials with the American National Standard, ANSI B18.2.3.4M - Metric Hex Flange Screws. The hexagon widths on the heads of these bolts are one size smaller for the respective bolt size than that of Metric Hex Bolts. These bolts are intended for general use in applica- tions requiring a
3、large bearing contact area; such as, where the bolt head is to bear directly on the mating surface over slotted or oversize clearance holes or against materials of relatively low compressive strength, or where other considerations might normally necessitate the use of a flat washer under the head of
4、 a metric hex bolt. 2 REFERENCED STANDARDS. GMSOOM B210 ASME B1.13M B220 ANSI B18.2.3.4M Xl00 B200 3 IDENTIFICATION. Bolts shall be permanently and legibly marked with the manufacturers identification and property class symbol on the top of the head or flange in accordance with the respective materi

7、height plus 0.1 mm for M5 and M6 bolts, 0.2 mm for M8 and Ml0 bolts, 0.3 mm for Ml2 and Ml4 bolts, and 0.4 mm for Ml6 and larger bolts. The property class symbol, in addition to indicating the strength level, also serves to signify that the product is metric. 4 HEAD. The following requirements suppl
8、ement the tabulated dimensions relating to the head on bolts and shall apply to the respective features: 4.1 TOP OF HEAD. The top of head shall be full form or indented, at the manufacturers option, and shall be chamfered or rounded at the hexagon comers. The diameter of chamfer or the start of roun
9、ding shall be equivalent to the specified maxi- mum width across flats within a tolerance of minus 15%. 4.2 HEAD HEIGHT. The head height shall be measured, parallel to the axis of bolt, from the top of the head to the plane of the bearing circle diameter. 4.3 HEXAGON HEIGHT. The hexagon height shall
10、 be the distance, measured, parallel to the axis of bolt at comers of hexagon, from the junction of the hexagon head with the top of flange to the top of the head. 4.4 WRENCHING HEIGHT. The wrenching height shall be the distance, measured parallel to the axis of bolt at comers of hexagon, from the j
11、unction of the hexagon head with the top of flange to the last plane of full formed hexagon (plane clos- est to the top of head at which the width across comers of hexagon is within the specified limits). The rounding due to the lack of fill at all 6 comers of hexagon shall be reasonably uniform. 4.
12、5 HEAD GAGING. Acceptability of wrenching height, comer fill and width across comers of the head shall be deter- mined coincidentally by the use of two plain ring gages, A and B, conforming to the dimensions specified in Table 2. As depicted in Figure 1, Gage A shall be placed over the head and shal
13、l seat on the top of the flange normal to the axis of belt to demonstrate that the maximum width across comers is accept- able. Gage B shall then be placed on the top of the head, normal to the bolt axis, The wrenching height and the comer fill shall be considered acceptable if the two gages do not

The width across flats of head shall be measured, perpendicular to the axis of bolt, over- all between opposite sides. The axis of the head shall be located at true position with respect to the axis of bolt (deter- mined
15、 over a distance under the head equal to one bolt diameter) within a tolerance zone having a diameter as speci- fled in Table 1. The top surface of the flange shall be flat or slightly rounded (convex) and the periphery shall be
17、 round within the specified maximum flange diameter and a tolerance of minus 5%. The bearing surface shall be flat to concave within 1.5” max from the plane through the bearing circle. The plane formed by the bearing circle diameter shall be perpendicular to the axi
20、s of bolt body within the total runout specified in Table 1. The measurement of bearing face runout shall be made as close to the specified bearing circle diameter as possible while the bolt is held in a collet or other suitable gripping device on the shoulder or at a distance equal to one bolt diam
21、eter from the plane of the bearing circle. 5 UNDERHEAD FILLET. The fillet at the junction of head and shank shall conform to the following requirements for the respective short (threaded full length) and long (lengths to which LB and LG controls apply) bolt length categories and bolt material proper
