8、ical and chemical testing for fertilizers. For some years the United Kingdom has participated in the standardization of methods of sampling fertilizers through Subcommittee 2, Sampling, of Technical Committee 134, Fertilizers and soil conditioners, of the International Organization for Standardizati
9、on (ISO). As international agreement is reached on the methods, it is proposed to publish them as Sections of BS 5551. The standard is to be published in four Parts, each Part being subdivided into Sections and, where appropriate, Subsections. The four Parts are: Part 1: Terminology and labelling; P
10、art 2: Sampling; Part 3: Physical properties; Part 4: Chemical analysis. This Section of Part 2 is identical with ISO 7410:1983 “Fertilizers and soil conditioners Final samples Practical arrangements”. Terminology and conventions. The text of the International Standard has been approved as suitable
11、for publication as a British Standard without deviation. Some terminology and certain conventions are not identical with those used in British Standards; attention is drawn especially to the following. Wherever the words “International Standard” appear, referring to this standard, they should be rea
12、d as “British Standard”. Cross-reference. ISO 5306, referred to in clause 6, is in course of preparation. When published, it is expected that it will be implemented as an identical Section of BS 5551. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of

15、BSI 10-19991 0 Introduction In addition to the instructions given in this International Standard, attention should be paid to any legal requirements in the countries concerned. If the information on the label referred to in clause 6 is insufficient, a sampling report, as specified in ISO 5306, shoul
16、d accompany the sample. 1 Scope and field of application This International Standard establishes practical arrangements relating to final samples1) of solid fertilizers and soil conditioners. 2 Reference ISO 5306, Fertilizers Sampling report2). 3 Handling of samples and division into several final s
17、amples Instructions for the handling of samples, and for their division into several final samples, will form the subject of a future International Standard. 4 Containers Appropriate containers, which shall be clean, dry and impervious to moisture, shall be made of glass and/or plastics materials, o
18、r any other inert material of adequate resistance, capable of maintaining the sample in its original condition; the containers shall be fitted with airtight closures. 5 Sealing of containers Each container shall be secured and sealed in such a manner that it can be opened only by breaking the seal;
19、otherwise, the container shall be placed in a sealed, robust package in such a manner that no part of the sample can be removed without breaking the seal of the package; the label (see clause 6) shall be incorporated in the seal. 6 Labelling of final samples Each final sample shall be labelled in an
20、 identical manner. The label attached to each final sample shall be adequately secured and sealed to prevent its loss; it shall carry at least the following information: a) final sample number or other distinguishing mark; b) name of the material and its nominal composition; c) manufacturers referen
21、ce and batch number (if available); d) date of sampling; e) place of sampling; f) signature and name of the sampler; g) signature and name of the person or his representative on whose premises the sample was taken. NOTEFurther details of the information required concerning the sample are given in IS
22、O 5306. 7 Disposal of the final sample If it is necessary to submit the final sample to any person, the person performing sampling may either deliver it by hand or send it by any other appropriate method, provided that the containers are suitably protected against accidental damage and all appropria
23、te precautions are taken for the storage of the sample. 8 Storage of final samples All final samples shall be stored under conditions that will not permit deterioration. 1) Or laboratory samples. 2) At present at the stage of draft.
