This Part of BS 6789 specifies appropriate requirements of other relevant standards and of other Parts of this standard depending on the facilities included in a particular apparatus. This Part specifies, in the “information to be provided by the supplier”, the req
7、uirement for the supplier to identify those facilities offered in the apparatus submitted for approval, in terms of which of the remaining Parts of this standard apply. It also specifies the requirement for the supplier to identify any other facilities in the apparatus affecting the network, so that
8、 all such facilities offered by the product are stated. NOTEThe titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover. 2 Abbreviations and definitions The abbreviations and definitions given in BS 6301:1982 and BS 6305:1982 apply, except as otherwise specified i
9、n the relevant other British Standards referred to in this Part, and as specified in the relevant other Parts of this standard. NOTEWhere the terms “facilities” and “functions” are used in this standard, they should be interpreted in the widest sense, that is, within the scope of the dictionary defi
10、nitions of these words. The objective is to break down into individual parts the specification relating to “work which the apparatus is designed to do” (the function), or the “opportunity” which the function provides (the facility). 3 Safety The requirements of BS 6301:1982 apply, except as otherwis
11、e specified in the relevant other British Standards referred to in this Part and as specified in the relevant other Parts of this standard. 4 Connection to the PSTN The requirements of clause 3 of BS 6305:1982 apply, except as otherwise specified in the relevant other British Standards referred to i
12、n this Part and as specified in the relevant other Parts of this standard. 5 Electrical characteristics The requirements of clause4 of BS 6305:1982 apply, except as otherwise specified in the relevant other British Standards referred to in this Part and as specified in the relevant other Parts of th
13、is standard. NOTEThe relevance of some subclauses of BS 6305:1982 depends on the presence of the appropriate function as described in the following items. a) Earth connection. For apparatus with an earth connection, the requirements of 4.1.1 (for insulation resistance), paragraph 2 of 4.1.3 (for imp
14、edance), 4.3.3 (for earth impedance balance) and 4.3.4 (for signal balance about earth) of BS 6305:1982 apply. b) Impedance. For speech apparatus, the requirements of 4.3.2.1 of BS 6305:1982 apply. For non-speech apparatus, the requirements of 4.3.2.2 of BS 6305:1982 apply. For apparatus with both s
15、peech and non-speech functions, when the apparatus is in speech mode, the requirements of 4.3.2.1 of BS 6305:1982 apply and when the apparatus is in non-speech mode, the requirements of 4.3.2.2 of BS 6305:1982 apply. c) Apparatus signalling. For loop-disconnect signalling, the requirements of 4.4.2
16、of BS 6305:1982 apply. For MF tone signalling, the requirements of 4.4.3 of BS 6305:1982 apply. 17、lling functions, when the apparatus is in loop-disconnect signalling mode, the requirements of 4.4.2 of BS 6305:1982 apply and when the apparatus is in MF tone signalling mode, the requirements of 4.4.3 of BS 6305:1982 apply. d) Special signalling conditions. For apparatus sending a register recall
18、signal, the requirements of 4.4.4.1 of BS 6305:1982 apply. For apparatus capable of invoking d.c. controlled single transfer and call barring facilities (exchange provided), the requirements of 4.4.4.2 of BS 6305:1982 apply. For apparatus capable of invoking d.c. controlled group transfer facilities
19、 (exchange provided), the requirements of 4.4.4.3 of BS 6305:1982 apply. e) Signal power presented to the network. For fixed power level apparatus, the requirements of 4.3.5 a) of BS 6305:1982 apply. For adjustable power level apparatus, the requirements of 4.3.5 b) of BS 6305:1982 apply. 6 Telephon
20、e apparatus Where the apparatus incorporates the facilities of a simple telephone as defined in BS 6317:1982, the requirements of BS 6317:1982 apply, except where otherwise specified in the relevant other Parts of this standard. NOTEThe relevance of some subclauses of BS 6317:1982 depends on the pre
21、sence of the appropriate function as described in the following items. a) Disabling of ringing detector. Where the apparatus has a means of disabling the ringing detector, the requirements of 6.4.3 of BS 6317:1982 apply. b) User-controlled receiving volume control. Where the apparatus does not have
22、a user-controlled receiving volume control, the requirements of 13.3.2 a) (for receiving loudness rating) and the appropriate values of 13.4 (for sidetone performance) of BS 6317:1982 apply. Where the apparatus is fitted with a user-controlled receiving volume control, the requirements of 13.3.2 b)
23、(for receiving loudness rating) and the appropriate values of 13.4 (for sidetone performance) of BS 6317:1982 apply. c) Apparatus with rotary dial. Where the apparatus is provided with a rotary dial, the requirements of clause 15 of BS 6317:1982 apply. 7 Modems Where the apparatus incorporates the f
24、acilities of a modem as defined in BS 6320:1982, the requirements of BS 6320:1982 apply, except where otherwise specified in the relevant other Parts of this standard. 8 Facilities and functions of products 8.1 Apparatus with more than one facility or function. Where the apparatus has more than one
25、facility or function as stated by the supplier in accordance with the requirements of clause 10, each requirement specified for the apparatus shall be met in all of those operational states of the apparatus where the parameter or condition specified in the requirement is present, except where otherw
26、ise specified in the relevant standard. Compliance shall be checked by activating functions as appropriate during testing. 8.2 Loudspeaking facility. For apparatus with a loud-speaking facility, the requirements of Part 2 of this standard apply. 8.3 Auto-calling facilities. For apparatus with auto-c
27、alling, repeat attempts, auto-answering or auto-clearing facilities, the requirements of Part 3 of this standard apply as appropriate. 8.4 Call diversion. For apparatus with a call diverter facility, the requirements of Part 4 of this standard apply. 8.5 Parallel connection facility. For apparatus w
28、here auxiliary apparatus is connected in parallel with subscribers apparatus, such as a call logging facility, the requirements of Part 5 of this standard apply. 8.6 Series connection facility. For apparatus where auxiliary apparatus is connected in series with subscribers apparatus the requirements
29、 of Part 6 of this standard apply. 8.7 Call barring facility. For apparatus with a call barring facility, the requirements of Part 7 of this standard apply. 9 Marking The requirements of clause 5 of BS 6305:1982 apply, except as otherwise specified in the relevant other British Standards referred to
30、 in this Part and as specified in the relevant other Parts of this standard. The requirements of clause 6
31、 of BS 6305:1982 apply, except as otherwise specified in the relevant other British Standards referred to in this Part and as specified in the relevant other Parts of this standard, together with the additional requirements given in 10.2 and 10.3. 10.2 Particular facilities. The supplier shall state
32、: a) which of the facilities or functions listed in clause 8 are included in the apparatus; b) which facilities or functions not listed in clause 8 are included which are designed to interact with or affect the network. NOTEThe supplier may also state the facilities or functions included in the appa
33、ratus other than those listed in a) and b). In general and unless otherwise specified these facilities are not the subject of mandatory standards and are not required to be the subject of tests under this standard by the Approvals Authority. Such user application functions as the method of presentat
34、ion (video, print, facsimile, subscribers metering, etc.) and the method of handling and processing information (recording, enquiry/response, switching, editing, etc.) are not subject to mandatory specifications; neither are any non-telecommunications functions which may be associated with the appar
35、atus (radio, alarm clocks, etc.) unless interaction with the facilities referred to in a) and b) affects compliance with this standard. 10.3 Instructions to the user. The instructions to the user shall include the following statement: “This apparatus has been approved for the use of the following fa
36、cilities:” (A list of facilities is inserted here.) “Any other usage will invalidate the approval of the apparatus if as a result it then ceases to comply with the standards against which approval was granted”. The facilities listed in this statement shall consist of one or more of those facilities
37、stated by the supplier in accordance with the requirements of 10.2, and shall not include any other facilities. 11 Test requirements The general conditions of test shall be in accordance with the conditions described in A.1 of BS 6305:1982, except as otherwise specified in the relevant other British
38、 Standards referred to in this Part and as specified in the relevant other Parts of this standard.
