14、l purposes 1 Scope This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies general stainless steel wire ropes used for machines, construction works, ships, fishery and the like (hereafter referred to as “rope”). Stainless steel wire ropes not included in this Standard are as fol- lows: JIS G 3535 Wire ropes for
15、 aircraft control JIS G 3540 Wire ropes for mechanical control JIS G 3550 Stainless steel wire ropes for structure Information : 2 Normative reference The following standard contains provisions which, thor- ough reference in this Standard, constitute provisions of this Standard. The most recent edit
16、ion of the standard (including amendments) indicated below shall be ap- plied. JIS G 4308 Stainless steel wire rods 3 Definitions a) wire Stainless steel wires constituting the strand. b) For the purposes of this Standard, the following definitions apply. strand A constitutional element of a rope wh
17、erein some wires are twisted to- gether. core A generic term of fibre core, strand core and rope core. i) c) fibre core A fibre rope at the center of the rope. There are natural fibre cores and synthetic fibre cores. strand core A strand at the center of the rope. The construction is 1 x 7, 1 x 19 o
18、r 1 x 37. 2) 3) rope core A wire rope at the center of the rope. The construction is 7 x 7 and the symbol is IWRC. rope diameter The diameter of a circle circumscribed by an optional perpen- dicular cross-section of the rope. It is divided into nominal diameter and actual diameter. e) length of lay

21、nded or the strand is closed (see figure 2). There are Z lays and S lays. type of laying i laying of rope Laying of the rope depends on combination of directions of lay in stranding and in closing the rope. The ordinary lay is laying of rope in which the direction of lay in the stranding and in clos
22、ing the rope are opposite. Further, there are ordinary Z lay and ordinary S lay accord- ing to the lay direction of the rope (see figure 2). 23、strand (see table 3). 2.1) cross lay A strand in which the wires in each layer are so spun that they make point contacts. parallel lay A strand in which the wires in each layer are so spun that they make linear contacts. 2.2) breaking load ing point in the breaking test. aggregate breaking load The
24、sum of the breaking loads of all individual wires in the rope. grade sification by the breaking load of the rope. lot A series of ropes manufactured consecutively from the same wires with the same machine. They are regarded as in the same lot even if divided into sev- eral number of ropes. The maxim
