Scope This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the method to represent the standard code for info
5、rmation interchange defined in JIS C 6220 on a magnetic tape. 2. Definitions For the purpose of this standard the following principal definitions apply: - bit An elementary unit to represent information by assuming one of two values or states, which corresponds to digit “OT7 or “17 in binary notatio
6、n. information block A collection of consecutive information to be dealt with as a unit mechanically. track A longitudinal area on the surface of magnetic tape which is capable to store a series of information and to be read or written by a head. parity check To check an error by means of such a man
7、ner that an additional bit is added to a set of information bits consisting of binary digits “1“ and O“, so that the number of binary digit “1“ in all the bits is made odd (or even). parity bit A bit to be added for parity check. 3. Magnetic Tape The magnetic tape to be used shall be 9-track 12.7 mm
8、 wide magnetic tape. 3.1 Reference Edge When a tape is lying flat with the oxide side uppermost and the direction of movement for recording from left to right, the reference edge of the magnetic tape shall be the edge across the tape (farthest from an observer).
