However, the industry is still small compared to
9、 its counterparts worldwide. Currently, most major global consulting firms have expanded into China providing the following consulting services: strategy, operations, human resources, and marketing. These global giants have three main client bases: Chinese branches of multinational corporations, the
10、 government, and state-owned enterprises. They do not generally have extensive dealings with local businesses. Local consulting firms have thrived by borrowing research theories and methods from international consulting companies and offering the same wide range of services. In the five years throug
11、h 2012, industry revenue has been increasing at an annualized rate of 10.1%. The industry is extremely sensitive to the overall economic environment, so revenue growth fell considerably in 2009 due to the global financial recession. However, as the world economy recovered gradually in 2011, growth r
12、ebounded. Revenue is estimated at $14.7 billion in 2012, a 9.0% increase from 2011. High profitabilty is expected to attract new businesses into the industry. Although there are many traditional Chinese theories on management, they have not generally been applied to business. Once industry players realized that large profits could be generated through effe

Local consulting firms have thrived by borrowing research theories and methods from international consulting companies and offering the same wide range of services. The

Significant numbers of small- and medium-sized local consulting companies have emerged in the market, while larger domestic firms, such as Alliance PKU and Bexcel Management Consultant
21、s, have expanded to become the major providers of consulting services to medium-sized Chinese corporations. Most of the top consulting companies in the world have now entered the China market together with their global customers. Foreign consulting enterprises increased the rate of their investments
22、 and activities in China, and established large exclusively foreign-owned firms and joint ventures in the last five years. The rapid expansion of foreign capital in the industry also brought in many advanced consulting tools and techniques, which benefited local consulting companies and the industry
23、 as a whole. Industry revenue Industry revenue increased rapidly during the five years through 2012, at an annualized growth rate of 10.1%. The urgent need for domestic customers to face the challenges from foreign competitors after Chinas accession to the World Trade Organization resulted in contin
