8、nese Industrial Standard specifies light scattering automatic par- ticle counters for measurement of the size and number of particles in liquids (hereafter referred to as “particle counters” ). Remarks 1 These particle counters are used for counting particulates in liquids such as solvents, chemical

11、8103, JIS Z 8122 and JIS Z 8901, and the following definitions shall apply: (i) false count The counted value on the counter even though there is no particle within a measurable range in the measured liquid. flow cell A transparent flow passage used for irradiation of light beams to the specimen liq
12、uid. identification limit voltage The threshold voltage of an electronic circuit which selects pulse waves by means of peak voltage values. effective observation area In the flow cell, the area where the particles are to be actually counted. effective specimen flow rate The amount of the specimen li
13、quid passing the effec- tive observation area per unit time. 14、ple of measurement The sample liquid is introduced at a given flow rate into the flow cell from the specimen introducing inlet of the particle counter and then passed through the region irradiated by light beams. 17、se-form signal obtained. In the general type particle counter, in order that a certain relation is made up be- tween the peak value of the pulse-form signal and the particle size, only the scattered light from the particles passing the irradiation area, where the strength of irradiated light is cons
18、idered to be approximately uniform is detected. The pulse-form signal is selected by comparing the peak value of the pulse-form signal with the identification limit voltage corresponding to the particle size and the number of particles at each divi- sion of particle size is obtained by counting the
19、number of particles of the selected pulse-form signal. The monitor type particle counter which is not composed in such a form that a cer- tain relation is made up between the peak value of the pulse-form signal and the parti- cle size is possible to give an approximately correct particle size distri
20、bution by setting up some kinds of identification limit to select the pulse-form signal, when the shape of the particle size distribution of the specimen particles is within a range assumed in advance. 5 Constitution An particle counter consists of a light source unit, irradiation optical system, li
21、quid-introducing system(), flow cell, optical system for receiving the scattered light, photoelectric conversion unit and pulse-height selecting unit. In addition to the above, where required, the counter is equipped with output terminals for particle pulse signals from the photoelectric conversion
22、unit and input terminals for false pulse sig- nals to the pulse-height selecting unit. An example of the constitution is shown in Fig.1.
