FOREWORD This standard was developed by a cooperative effort of representatives of the pipe hanger manufacturers. It is based on the best pra
7、ctice current at this time and on the collective experience of the industry. There are three companion standards, MSS SP-58, MSS SP-69, and MSS SP-89 relating to hanger materials, design, manufacture, fabrication, selection and application, installation, and testing. In addition, The MSS Pipe Hanger

11、O Hanger. The load plate or other means used to indicate the reading on the Load Scale of a Variable Spring Hanger. The rating of a particular size of component or assembly to withstand a specified force with a safety factor applied. A scale attached to a Variable Spring Hanger to provide a means of
12、 indicating the supported load. A t e r m associated with Variable Spring Hangers used to describe the difference in supporting effect between the k t and i.e. rigid, spring, etc. with Suring Hangers indicating load, movement, spring type and size. This hanger assembly is field fabricated utilizing
13、Bulk Material where applicable. Operating pressures and temperatures for piping systems. Also describes the environmental conditions in which the hanger assembly is located. A welded Pipe Attachment subjected primarily to shear stress, transferring axial pipe load to the supporting member. See Prote
14、ction Shield. A Bracket provided with a hole in the vertical leg for bolting to the building structure and a hole in the horizontal leg to receive a threaded Hanger Rod. A Beam Clamp that attaches to a flange of an I-beam or wide flange beam and provides an off-center attachment for the remainder of
15、 a Pipe Hanger Assembly. A calculated movement at a support point, sufficient to require the use of a type of support which will accommodate the movement. That which provides resistance in tension or compression, but not both. A Pipe Attachment which utilizes a Pipe Roll for axial movement and is us
16、ed in a Trapeze Hanger or Sumort. A horizontal beam, usually located at grade, upon which horizontal pipe runs are supported. For compression members, the term denotes the unbraced effective length in inches divided by the least radius of gyration in inches. It is used in the determination of allowa
17、ble compressive stress due to buckling conditions. A Pipe Clamp primarily used on non-insulated piping, provided with a hinge which permits installation before or after the piping is in place. A simple, non-calibrczted, single rod spring suppo
22、rt, used for providing a cushioning effect. A pair of spring coils with retainers, for use with a Single Pipe Roll. A Pipe Hanger, using a spring or springs, to permit vertical movement in a piping system. See Swing Sway Brace. A spring device used for the control of vibration or shock, or bracing a

28、ice. Also a generic name for a Lateral Brace. See Ring Band. A device which provides flexibility at the pipe connection, in addition to linear adjustment for Suspension Hanger. A PiDe ClamD normally used for horizontal insulated piping, which utilizes clamping bolts to attach the clamp to the pipe a
29、nd a separate Load Bolt to transfer the piping weight to the remainder of the Piue Hanger Assembly from a point outside the insulation. (Formerly referred to as a Double Bolt Piue Clamo) A Beam Clamu which attaches to the top of a structural beam and provides an attachment to the remainder of the Pi
30、ue Hanger Assembly from the side of the beam. See Lateral Brace. A PiDe Hanger consisting of parallel vertical rods which are suspended from a structure and connected at their lower ends by a horizontal member from which the pipe is supported. Some of its uses are for clearing overhead obstructions
