Existence of such Standards and Publications shall not in any respect preclude any member or nonmember of TIA/EIA from manufacturing or selling products not conforming to such Standards and Publications, nor shall the exi

Standards and Publications are adopted by TIA/EIA in accordance with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)

Note:The users attention is called to the possibility that compliance with this document may require use of one or mo

By publication of this standard, Interim Standard, or TSB, no position is taken with respect to the validity of those claims or of any patent rights in connection therewith. The patent holder(s) so far identified have, however, filed statements of willingness
7、to grant licenses under those rights on reasonable and nondiscriminatory terms and conditions to applicants desiring to obtain such licenses. Details may be obtained from the standards developer. This Standard does not purport to address all safety problems associated with its use or all applicable

Introduction 1.1 Scope FOCIS 12 presents the intermateabil
13、ity standard for connectors with the commercial designation of MT-RJ, and is used as an addendum to TIA/EIA-604, Fiber Optic Connector Intermateability Standards. The provisions of TIA/EIA-604 apply to this document. 1.2 Objective Intermateability standards define the minimum physical attributes of
14、mating connector components. Fully dimensioned components are not within the scope or intent of FOCIS 12. The requirements of FOCIS 12 have been selected with the objectives of ensuring that a specified combination of connector assemblies conforming to the requirements of FOCIS 12 will mechanically
15、intermate, and that intermated connector assemblies will meet their common level of performance. 1.3 Limitations Realization of the objectives of FOCIS 12 may be limited by the following considerations: 1.3.1 Configuration Options There are configuration options in FOCIS 12 that impose limitations o
16、n the combinations of plugs that should be combined in a connector assembly. Both plugs should have the same number of fibers, option n. Both plugs should have the same alignment pin variant, option t. The alignment pin in the cavity provides the alignment therefore all assemblies should have a pinn
17、ed variant in one half, option c = 1 and a cavity variant in the other, option c = 2. 1.3.2 Common Performance The location of optical cores as shown in Figure 3.2.3 are defined without tolerances by their true positions. To apply common performance, the distributions of the position of the fiber co
18、res as shown in Figure 3.2.3, should be centered on the true positions. Common performance does not account for intrinsic loss between the fibers being joined; see TIA/EIA-604, Section 6. 1.3.3 Resolution Cases of combinations of plugs and adapters where mechanical intermateability or the common lev
19、el of performance is not achieved should be resolved through the cooperation of the user and the connector and adapter manufacturer(s). 1.4 Drawing practices To be in compliance with ANSI and ISO Engineering Drawing Practices, the following shall apply: 1. Where a tolerance of form is not specified,
20、 the limits of the dimensions for a feature control the form as well as the size. The combined effects of size and form variations may not exceed the envelope of perfect form at the maximum material condition (MMC). 2. Where interrelated features of size (features shown with a common axis or center
21、plane) have no geometric tolerance of location or runout specified the limits of the dimensions for a feature control the location tolerance as well as the size. When the interrelated features are at the MMC, they shall be perfectly located to each other as indicated by the drawing. 3. Where perpend
22、icular features (features shown at right angles) have no geometric tolerance, orientation, or runout specified, the limits of the dimensions for a feature control the orientation tolerance as well as the size. When perpendicular features are at the MMC, they shall be perfectly oriented to each other
23、 as indicated by the drawing. 4. As the size of a feature departs from the MMC, variations in form, location and orientation are permissible.
