Please note that comments on a preliminary review document will not receive a response from the proposal author through CSDS. Instead, the proposal author is asked to review the comments received during the preliminary
5、review and adjust the proposals and/or supporting rationale as the author determines to be appropriate. The preliminary review process is an informal mechanism that provides authors with the opportunity to refi ne their proposals before the proposals advance in ULs standards development process. Nor
6、mally, the next step in the process is the more formal STP ballot and stakeholder review process. Only comments newly posted during the more formal STP ballot and stakeholder review process will be addressed and responded to. For your convenience in review, proposed additions to existing requirement
7、s are shown underlined and proposed deletions are shown lined-out. 1. Revise paragraph 1.2 to include a reference to NFPA 1192. The referen
8、ce to NFPA 1192 covering recreational vehicles is appropriate because devices covered by this standard can be used in RV applications and NFPA 1192 references UL 2061. Editorial corrections are being propo
10、sed in paragraphs 4.3 4.8 to correct the grammar. Editorial revisions to paragraph 5.5 are being proposed to remove a redundant requirement. The requirement that the thermal protection be on the appliance side of the connection is now shown in new paragraph 5.4.2(a). Revise paragraph 6.1 to clarify
11、the term, “operating parts.” Revise paragraph 8.6 to replace the term rates with capacity testing. Revise paragraph 23.3.1 for clarifi cation. PROPOSAL 1.2 The adapters and couplings covered by these requirements are used in propane systems such as, but not limited to the applications covered by the
12、 following standards: a) Storage and Handling of Liquefi ed Petroleum Gases, NFPA 58, except as noted in 1.3. b) Outdoor Cooking Gas Appliances, ANSI Z21.58. c) Outdoor Gas Grills, CGA 1.6. d) Standard on Recreational Vehicles, NFPA 1192. 1.3 These requirements do not cover quick closing connective
13、couplings for LP-Gas that are used in industrial truck applications, and which are covered by the requirements in the Outline of Investigation for LP-Gas and Natural Gas Devices for Engine Fuel Systems, Subject 1337 engine fuel applications. 4.3 APPLIANCE PORTION The half of a cylinder connection de
14、vice which that is directly connected to the inlet of the regulator and is attached to the appliance when the cylinder connection device is disconnected. 4.5 CYLINDER CONNECTION DEVICE The term used for a device which that connects a cylinder valve on portable LP-Gas cylinders to the inlet of the re
15、gulator on gas-consuming equipment. It consists of two parts appliance portion and cylinder portion. 4.6 CYLINDER PORTION The half of a cylinder connection device which that is directly connected to the cylinder valve and is attached to the cylinder when the cylinder connection device is disconnecte

It is required to contain the connection check valve. 4.8 SUPPLY SIDE That portion of a coupling which that is directly connected to the cylinder valve (also denoted as the cylinder portion). 5.5 The temperature activated shutoff feature shall have the thermal element located on the appliance por
17、tion and shall shut off the fl ow of gas from the supply side of the connection. It shall operate within a temperature range of 116 149C (240 300F); See the Temperature Activated Shut off Test, Section 16; and shut off within 5 minutes when tested in accordance with the Fire Test, Section 25. 19、OT FOR OUTSIDE DISTRIBUTION 6.1 Operating parts such as check valve(s) poppets and springs, and components of the locking mechanism, which includes coupling nut of the Type I connection and pressure containing parts of adapters and cylinder connection devices shall have strength and durability requi
20、red to operate as intended without resulting in risk of fi re or injury to persons. 8.6 Standard conditions for fl ow rates capacity testing shall be 14.69 psia (760 mmHg) and 15.6C (60F). 23.3.1 The cylinder portion of the cylinder connection device shall be secured with the outlet in the horizonta
21、l position. The inlet shall be connected to an air or nitrogen supply line containing a regulator, pressure gauge(s), and fl ow meter. 2. 22、 RATIONALE Proposal submitted by: Ron Czischke, Underwriters Laboratories Inc. Paragraph 5.4 is being reworded to remove sub items (a), (b), and (d), which will be added in other paragraphs to state which attributes (shutoff, thermal protection, and excess fl ow) are required in each portion of the
23、connection device. The location of the attributes is essential to ensure that all of the safety attributes are always provided when the connection is made in the fi eld. Paragraph 5.4 includes the requirement from the old paragraph 5.4(c) because the requirement for leak-tightness before gas is allo
24、wed to fl ow is a requirement of both halves of the connection device coupled together. Paragraph 5.4.1 is the old paragraph 5.4(a) which now clearly requires the shutoff on the cylinder side of the connection (supply side). This is the convention used with existing designs, but the current version
