4、L has decided to pursue ANSI approval of the Fourth Edition of UL 1573, the Standard for Stage and Studio Luminaires and Connector Strips. In order to facilitate future ANSI approval, UL is providing the complete 4th edition, along with proposed changes, for preliminary review and comment only. UL p

RATIONALES FOR PROPOSED CHANGES a) Removal of the Term Pigtail from the Standard This item has been proposed by Steven Holmes of Underwriters Laboratories. Where unnecessary for effective reader understanding, UL recommends terms that
6、 are generally considered slang not be used in standards. UL proposes the term pigtail, as often used in the phrase pigtail leads, be removed from UL 1573. This is consistent with activities at removing it from the US National Electrical Code, NFPA 70. Paragraphs affected are 24.2, 25.1, 25.6, and 3

9、he risk of arc tube fragments falling out of the luminaire should the arc tube rupture. Presently, the standard does not require a lamp containment barrier on a metal halide lamp provided with an integral glass outer envelope. However, there are metal halide lamps provided with an integral glass out

A metal halide lamp that the lamp manufacturer identifi es as suitable for use in a luminaire not provided with a lamp containment barrier or UV attenuation barrier, is assigned the O co

It is therefore not necessary to use thick-glass refl ector (PAR) lamps only in a luminaire provided with a lamp containm

UL also proposes that the lamp containment barrier not be required for luminaires intended for use with only a Type O lamp or a thick-glass PAR type lamp. Thes
14、e revisions are consistent with new Section 410.73(F)(5) in the 2005 NEC. UL 1573 also requires luminaires that use a metal halide lamp not provided with an integral outer glass envelope be provided with a fi lter for UV radiation emitted by the lamp. However, there are also metal halide lamps provi

The manufacturer of a Type O High-Intesity Discharge (HID) lamp has also confi rmed the effective actinic UV radiation output of the lamp does not exceed 2 mW
