2、allot of Proposed Requirements for the Ninth Edition of the Standard for Electric Fans, UL 507; SUMMARY OF TOPICS The attached comment matrix documents the comments received on the Ballot for Proposed Requirements of the Standards Technical Panel of UL for Electric Fans dated November 23, 2004, and
3、the responses to these comments. The following topics received comments: 1) Cooking Area Fan Duct Adapters 2) Accessibility of Live Parts COMMENTS DUE: February 18,2005 The attached comment matrix provides the proposed comment dispositions from the ballot of the proposal bulletin dated November 23,
4、2004. The ballots were due to the Project Manager by December 17, 2004. The matrix contains all of the comments that were received. The effective dates are the same as stated in the meeting report dated November 23, 2004, unless noted otherwise. UL has determined that consensus has been achieved reg
5、arding the ANSI approval of the proposed revisions to UL 507. The initial consensus count for ballot Item 1 is 17 yes, 1 no, and 1 abstain. The initial consensus count for ballot Item 2 is 17 yes, 2 no, and O abstain. If you wish to change your vote in light of the dispositions/actions or the propos
6、ed changes, please respond to us in writing by February 18, 2005. If we do not hear from you by this date, your original vote will be maintained. If the STP concurs with the dispositions/actions, UL plans to adopt the revised version of UL 507 as an ANSI standard. Anyone who has submitted an objecti
7、on has the right to appeal this action on a procedural basis through ULs Appeals Process. Please note only appeals based on a procedural issue will be heard. In addition, ustification for this added requirement cannot be 2stablished from field experience. Finally, we jisagree with all three ?rationales? listed. Suggestion: We could s
16、upport the proposal if nodified. I plan to submit a separate letter 2xplaining our suggestions. ?cooking area? can be better defined and UL encourages any proposal that would clarify the requirement, for future consideration. The Rationale for this proposal was discussed at the February STP Meeting
17、and was distributed to the STP again for comment as part of the STP Meeting Report (April 2004). The consensus of the STP continues to be to move forward with this I proposal.
