Approval of UL 331 as an American National Standard 2.
3、Deletion of paragraph 1.4 from the Scope STP BALLOTS AND ALL COMMENTS DUE: November 29, 2004 INSTRUCTIONS STP Members: If you are a voting member of the STP, complete the attached ballot with your vote on the standard or proposals. Please note that all negative ballots must be accompanied by support
4、ing written reasons and, where possible, proposals for a solution to the problem raised. Impact statements and effective date information are not subject to letter ballot. Therefore, comments regarding impact statements and effective dates may be made and should be sent to the STP Project Manager se
5、parate from the letter ballot. Subscribers and other interested parties: If you are a subscriber or other interested party, you are requested to send comments on the proposed requirements, impact statements, and proposed effective dates to the STP Project Manager. The STP member ballot should not be
6、 used to submit your comments. 9、t statement and proposed effective date. Attached as Appendix C and D are the STP ballot instructions and STP ballot, respectively. Questions regarding interpretation of requirements should be directed to the responsible UL Staff. Please note that proposed requirements are of a tentative and early n
10、ature and are for review and comment only. Current requirements are to be used to judge a product until these requirements are published in fi nal form. CALL FOR MEMBERS FOR STP 331 One of ULs goals in STP formation is that an STP will not have more than a third of its membership from one interest c
11、ategory. However, if the desired balance cannot be achieved, in no case shall the STP have more than 50 percent of its membership from one interest category. At this time, the current composition of STP 331 is 2 Users, 1 Producer, 1 General. We would like to attempt to improve the balance condition
12、for this STP by recruiting more Producer or General interest participants. If you know of any person(s) who would be potential candidates in either the Producer or General interest categories, please contact the project manager via the contact information below. PRODUCTS AND INDUSTRIES AFFECTED BY T
13、HE PROPOSAL UL requests your assistance in identifying other products or industries that might be affected by the requirements contained in this bulletin. UL suggests that all suppliers or customers for these products and industries be made aware of these requirements prior to their proposed effecti

ANSI APPROVAL OF UL 331 AND DELETION OF PARAGRAPH 1.4 RATIONALE This bulletin proposes that UL 331, including the proposed scope revision specifi ed below, be approved as an American National Standards Ins
19、titute (ANSI) Standard. Paragraph 1.4 in the Scope The requirements in UL Standards for Safety are intended to provide general safety requirements needed in order to examine and test a product to determine whether the design produces acceptable reduction of risks expected in connection with the prod
20、uct use. UL requirements are not intended to address issues specifi c to the certifi cation of a product. UL has determined that paragraph 1.4 addresses issues specifi c to the certifi cation of a product. Therefore, UL proposes to delete paragraph 1.4 from the standard. PROPOSAL OCTOBER 28, 2004SUB

22、cover complete, self-contained strainer or fi lter assemblies intended for use with designated fl ammable fl uids and anhydrous ammonia (fertilizer grade) in residential and commercial fuel-burning, dispensing, and handling facilities. Although these devices are designated strainers, they may be eit
23、her strainers or fi lters according to the common terminology of the industry. 1.2 The term fl ammable fl uids as used in this standard means fuel oil, gasoline, kerosene, and similar petroleum products, liquefi ed petroleum gas (LP-Gas), and manufactured and natural fuel gas. 1.3 These requirements
24、 do not cover the following: a) Strainers for handling liquids under cryogenic conditions; b) Strainers for marine use; c) Strainers for automotive fuel lines; d) Strainers for handling refrigerants; e) Strainers for use in such facilities as chemical, petrochemical, petroleum, and utility power pla
