8、OTS DUE: August 14, 2006 COMMENTS DUE: August 28, 2006 These proposals are the result of the STP 583 meeting held on August 30 and 31, 2005 at ULs Northbrook office. There are still outstanding proposals for UL 558 and UL 583 that continue to be worked on by the following task groups: 1. FUEL SYSTEM
9、 REQUIREMENTS FOR UL 558 TASK GROUP Objective: To revise requirements involving the engine system (including fuel pumps, fuel lines, etc.). 2. FLAMMABILITY OF NONMETALLIC MATERIALS (INCLUDING ACOUSTICAL MATERIAL, PLASTICS, ETC.) IN UL 558 AND UL 583 TASK GROUP Objective: To develop proposals for non
10、metallic materials in the engine compartment. 3. EXHAUST SYSTEM AND INTAKE SYSTEM TESTS FOR UL 558 TASK GROUP Objective: To develop proposals to revise the exhaust system and intake system tests (including the backfi re defl ection tests). If you are interested in joining any of these task groups, p
11、lease contact the Project Manager (Megan.M.C) or the Chair for STP 583 (Sonya.M.B). Other proposals that have been submitted via ULs Collaborative Standards Development System (CSDS) will be distributed for preliminary review and comment prior to ballot. 15、nt that has a stabilized temperature greater than 158F (90C) during normal operation. 2. Editorial revisions to 3.1 RATIONALE Proposal submitted by: Christopher Merther, Industrial Truck Association In 3.1(a), the standard references B56.1-1988. This is no longer the latest version of B56.1. In 3.1(
16、b), the standard references NFPA 505-1992. This is no longer the latest version of NFPA 505. PROPOSAL 3 Reference Standards 3.1 Other standards applying to power-operated industrial trucks are: a) Safety Standard for Powered Industrial Trucks Low Lift and High Lift Trucks, ANSI/ASME B56.11988, which
17、 contains requirements relating to the elements of design, operation, and maintenance of powered industrial trucks; b) Standard for Powered Industrial Trucks Including Type Designations, Areas of Use, Maintenance and Operation, ANSI/NFPA 5051992, which relates to a classifi cation of industrial truc
18、ks as to areas of use, maintenance, and operation; and c) Standard for Internal Combustion Engine-Powered Industrial Trucks, UL 558, which contains requirements relating to risk of fi re. 3. Clarifi cation of the construction requirements in 5.6 RATIONALE Proposal submitted by: Don Hudak, Nissan For
19、klift Corp., North America 5.6 should be rewritten to clarify the requirement and correct the reference. PROPOSAL 5.6 Steel, other than stainless, used in accordance with (b2) of the Exception to 5.4 5.5 shall be zinc-coated, cadmium-plated, or equivalently protected against corrosion. 4. Revision t
20、o address requirements for cables that have abrasive resistant sleeves in 6.2 RATIONALE Proposal submitted by: Christopher Merther, Industrial Truck Association The standard indicates that lead wires exiting a motor through the case shall pass through openings provided with an insulation bushing fas
21、tened in place. At the STP 583 meeting held on August 30 and 31, 2005 at ULs Northbrook office, meeting participants suggested that the text provided with an insulating bushing fastened in place be replaced with as defi ned in 8.10. It would be better if the requirement was the same for all trucks. PROPOSAL 8 Wiring 8.1 The internal wiring
