15、 REQUIREMENTS FOR REFRIGERATING APPLIANCES, ICE-CREAM APPLIANCES AND ICE-MAKERS, UL 60335-2-24 RATIONALE Attached is the proposed fi rst edition of the UL/CSA/ANCE/IEC Harmonized Standard for Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances, Part 2: Particular Requirements for Refrigerating App
16、liances, Ice-Cream Appliances, and Ice-Makers, UL 60335-2-24. Once adopted, this Standard may be used as an alternate for the requirements for household refrigerators and freezers which are presently contained in the Standard for Household Refrigerators and Freezers, UL 250/CSA-C22.2 No 63. The prop
17、osed UL 60335-2-24 will assist manufacturers interested in producing one product for use world-wide because National Differences for UL compliance will have been minimized. This proposed draft of UL 60335-2-24 consists of: a) IEC 60335-2-24, 6th edition, and b) UL, CSA, and ANCE National Differences
18、 to IEC 60335-2-24, appearing within the body of IEC 60335-2-24. The National Differences consists of requirements from UL 250/CSA-C22.2 No. 63 that: 1) Are not contained in either IEC 60335-2-24 or IEC 60335-1, UL 60335-1, or NMX-J-521/1-ANCE or, 2) Are substantially different from corresponding re
19、quirements in either IEC 60335-2-24 or IEC 60335-1. The requirements from UL 250/CSA-C22.2 No.63 that appear in the proposed harmonized UL/CSA/ ANCE/IEC 60335-2-24 have been renumbered to correspond to the numbering scheme used in IEC 60335-2-24 and IEC 60335-1. The following provides the rationale
20、of why some of the requirements in UL 250/CSA-C22.2 No.63 were not retained in the proposed UL 60335-2-24: a) Defrost Heater Burnout Test UL is proposing not to retain the Defrost heater burnout test, section 8.10 of UL 250. The reason being that the requirements are covered in IEC 60335-1. b) Overv
21、oltage and Undervoltage Test UL is proposing to delete the Overvoltage and Undervoltage Tests, section 8.17 of UL 250. The reason being that the requirements are already covered in IEC 60335-1. c) Static load test-cabinets UL is proposing not to retain the Static load test cabinets Section 8.15 of U
22、L 250. The reason being there has not been a documented incident where the refrigerator collapsed that reduced electrical spacings resulting in an electrical hazard and resulted in a personal injury.
