10、y Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, NV, USA, at 9:00 A.M The purpose of the meeting was to discuss proposals related to the Standards for: Polymeric Materials Short Term Property Evaluations, UL 746A; Polymeric Materials Long Term Property Evaluations, UL 746B; Polymeric Materials Use in Electrical Equipment
11、Evaluations; UL 746C; Polymeric Materials Fabricated Parts, UL 746D; Polymeric Materials Coil Forms, UL 1692, Tests for Flammability of Plastic Materials for Parts in Devices and Appliances, UL 94; and Tests for Flammability of Small Polymeric Component Materials, UL 1694 The purpose of the STP meet
12、ing report is to briefl y summarize discussions held during the meeting, and to document any resulting outcomes, including planned future action. Although UL is not soliciting input on the report, please refer to the CSDS work area for guidance on posting comments. APRIL 30, 2008SUBJECT 746A-2- -,-,
13、- FOR INTERNAL UL OR CSDS USE ONLY NOT FOR OUTSIDE DISTRIBUTION CALL TO ORDER, ANNOUNCEMENTS, INTRODUCTION OF MEMBERS, GUESTS, AND OBSERVERS Brad Schmidt, the Chair of STP 746, welcomed the Standards Technical Panel (STP) members, guests, and public participants to the meeting. After asking if anyon
14、e had additional topics they would like discussed at the end of the meeting, four additional topics (34 - 37) were noted. ANNOUNCEMENTS AND REPORTS FROM THE STP PROJECT MANAGER Derrick L. Martin, who substituted for the 746 STP Project Manager Ray Suga, requested that the attendees initial the sign-
15、in sheet and also fi ll out a brief survey at the end of the meeting. Derrick also noted that attendees familiarize themselves with ULs patent policy, found on the STP website. The current balance of the STP was discussed at the meeting and is shown in the following table: Interest CategoryNumber of

The STP discusse
17、d the status of this discussion item. The discussion indicated that this is a very importance issue to industry. Comments were also received that the current UL 746D requirements are not practical. It was stated that this topic would have a huge impact on industry. As a next step, UL will ask its Re
18、search Department to work with a university to prepare a White Paper on this matter. 20. ANSI Reaffirmation of UL 746D DISCUSSION Proposal item submitted by: George J. 19、RIBUTION UL called attention to the fact that soon UL will submit UL 746D to the 746 STP for balloting so that its status as an American National Standard may be reaffirmed. The STP had no objections to ANSI reaffirmation activity for UL 746D so it will proceed to ballot. 21. Clarifi cation of Ball
20、Pressure Test (UL 746A) DISCUSSION Proposal item submitted by: George J. Fechtmann, Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. A proposal was discussed that would, for the Ball Impact Test in UL 746A, correct the tolerance for the loading device downward force. It was decided to submit this UL 746A proposal to
21、 the STP for ballot with the corrected values as 20 0.2 N (4.5 0.05 lbf) in paragraph 29.1.1 of UL 746A. 22. Offset Principle for Impact Testing (UL 746B and UL 746C) DISCUSSION Proposal item submitted by: George J. Fechtmann, Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. The STP discussed a proposal that would c
22、larify the intent of the application of the offset principle for impact testing for the UL 746B RTI, UL 746C UV and Water Exposure test methods. After a brief discussion, an STP meeting attendee offered to update the proposal by allowing materials less than 0.75 mm to be tested. Anil KS will send su
23、ggested verbiage for thicknesses less than 0.75 mm to George Fechtmann for inclusion in the ballot proposal. 23. Comparative Tracking Index (CTI) Requirements (UL 746C and UL 746A) DISCUSSION Proposal item submitted by: George J. Fechtmann, Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. The STP discussed revisions
24、 intended to clarify the application of the CTI requirements in UL 746C based on the ASTM D 3638 test method.
