    USSR STATE STANDARD GREEN TEA IN BRICKS SPECIFICATIONS GOST 3483-78 Official Edition USSR STATE COMMITTEE FOR STANDARDS Moscow UDC 663.952.76: 006.354Group H56 USSR STATE STANDARD GREEN TEA IN BRICKS Specifications GOST 3483-78* In place of GOST 3483-46 OKP (All-Union Product Classification Code) 91 9191 Term of introduction set by Decree No. 1575, dated 12.06.78, of the State Committee for Standards of the USSR Council of Ministers From 01.07.79 Period of validity extended by Decree No. 1632, dated 16.05.84, of Gosstandart except for Section 2 regarding acceptance procedure and Section 3 regarding sampling Until 01.07.89 Failure to comply with this Standard will result in legal proceedings 1. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 1.1. Bricks of green tea shall be manufactured according to the requirements of this Standard as prescribed by current technological instruction with observance of sanitary standards and rules approved in accordance with the established procedure. 1.2. To produce the tea, lao-cha shall be used, manufactured from coarsened and rough leaves and shoots from the tea plant in accordance with GOST 6207-75. 1.3. The brick of tea shall be of the following size in millimeters: Length 357.5 Width . 161.5 Thickness, no more than. 36.0. 1.4. Maximum deviations from tea brick dimensions in millimeters shall be as follows: By length .+2.5 By width +1.5. 1.5. The outer part of the brick tea shall consist of coating material (coarsened shoots and leaves) and the inner one shall consist of more rough material (rough shoots and leaves). Organoleptic indicators of the tea shall meet the requirements specified in table 1. Table 1 IndicatorCharacteristics AppearanceColor shall be dark green; surface shall be smooth, without crumbling; edges shall be equal without burs. Mold, leaves and shoots of other plants, foreign impurity and also toxic chemical residues shall not be allowed in the tea. 1.8. The tea brick shall be well pressed and shall not crumble by hand. 1.9. Physical and chemical indicators of the tea shall meet the requirements specified in table 2. GOST 3463-78 p. 3 2. ACCEPTANCE PROCEDURE 2.1. Acceptance procedure shall be in accordance with GOST 1936-79. 2.2. Manufacturer shall determine tannin contents in the tea at regular intervals but no less often than once a month. 3. ANALYSIS METHODS 3.1. Sampling shall be in accordance with GOST 1936-79. 3.2. Sampling and analysis methods shall be in accordance with GOST 1936-79 and GOST 19885-74. Toxic chemical residues shall be controlled in accordance with the specifications and technical documentation approved by the USSR Ministry of Health. Section 2 and 3 (Amended Wording, Amendment No. 1). 4. PACKING, MARKING, TRANSPORTATION AND STORAGE 4.1. The tea shall be produced with a net weight of 2 kg. Upon agreement with the customer, tea of lesser weight may be produced. 4.2. Maximum deviations of +2% of the net weight of the tea shall be allowed. 4.3. The tea shall be wrapped in paper of grade 1 m2 of which shall weigh 60 g in accordance with GOST 8273-75. 4.4. The tea shall be packed in boxes in accordance with GOST 4552-78. The boxes shall be solid, dry, without foreign smell, lined inside with clean brown paper of grade 1 m2 which shall weigh 60 g, in accordance with GOST 8273-75. Stacking of bricks in boxes shall be tight not allowing them to move inside the box. (Amended Wording, Amendment No. 1). 4.5. Boxes shall be fitted along the periphery of bottom and cover by two steel packing tapes in accordance with GOST 3560-73, 20 mm in width and 0.4 mm in thickness. 4.6. Transport marking shall be in accordance with GOST 14192-77 with a drawing indicating the handling instruction “Keep dry”. Marking describing the product shall be put on each transport unit by stencils with the following instruction: Manufacturers trademark, name, address and subordination; Name of the product; tea, grade; Gross and net weight of the box, kg; Number of packing units in a box; Box ordinal number (within a year); Number of this Standard; Net weight of packed tea in a packing unit Date of packing. -,-,- p. 4 GOST 3483-78 A label with the indication of stack number, date of packing and name of quality control inspector shall be put in each box. (Amended Wording, Amendment No. 1). 4.7. Boxes of tea shall be stored in dry, clean, well ventilated premise not contaminated by grain pests, on wooden racks raised at 0.100.15 m from the floor and spaced at no less than 0.5 m from the wall in stacks no more than 5 boxes in height leaving passages between two or three rows. Distance from sources of heat, water and sewer pipes shall be no less than 1 m. Relative humidity of air in the premises where the tea is stored shall not exceed 70%. It shall be not allowed to store the tea in the same premises as perishable foodstuffs and strong smelling goods. It shall not be allowed to air premises in which the tea is stored when the humidity of the air is above that in the premise. 4.8. The tea shall be transported by all types of transport in enclosed transport facilities in accordance with the rules of cargo transportation in force for the appropriate type of transport. Transport facilities shall be clean and not infested with grain pests. 4.9. Shelf life of the tea shall be 8 months from the date of its packing. 4.7 to 4.9. (Amended Wording, Amendment No. 1). Specifications Approved and introduced by Decree No. 3187, dated 20.09.88, of the USSR State Committee for Standards From 01.07.89 Clause 1.3. Dimension: 36.0 shall be replaced with 40.0. Clause 1.5 The first paragraph shall be reworded as follows: “The tea shall consist of a mix of coating (coarsened shoots and leaves) and more rough (rough shoots and leaves) material. ”. Clause 1.9. Table 2. Column “Indicator”. Words: “Ferric impurity, mg / kg ” shall be replaced with “Ferromagnetic impurity, %”; -,-,- (Continuation of Amendment to GOST 3483-78) column “Standard” value: 8.0 shall be replaced with 0.0008. Clauses 2.1, 3.1 and 3.2. Reference: GOST 1936-79 shall be replaced with GOST 1936- 85. Clause 2.2 shall be reworded as follows: “2.2. Manufacturer shall determine the fraction of the total mass of tannin in tea in each fifth batch”. Clause 4.4. Last paragraph. Word: “ Stacking ” shall be replaced with “Laying” Clause 4.6. Last paragraph. Word: “packing” shall be replaced with “packaging”.
