Using the concept of load capacity coefficient, the variations of structural stiffness in circumferential, axial and radical directions on the performance of load capacity of foil bearing are analyzed specifically. And the increase of damping, demonstrated mainly in the form of column frictional damping results in increased structural stiffness and load capacity, along with the improved whirl stability.
