IEC 1119-6:1992, Digital audio tape cassette system (DAT) Part 6: Serial copy management system. 3 DAT logo types Figure 1 to Figure 5 show several DAT logo types. The DAT logo is composed of two phrases, “DAT” and “Digital Audio Tape”. Details of the logo types are specified in 7.4. The use of each logo is restricted and defined in the application rules for DAT logos. 4 DAT logo application rules 4.1 The DAT logo assures compatibility between DAT cassette systems for consumer use, manufactured in conformance with the DAT cassette system specifications as laid down in IEC 1119-1 to IEC 1119-6. The DAT logo shall be used on all consumer DAT recorders/players and related products, including DAT tapes. 4.2 The manufacturers involved with the production of DAT cassette recorders/players and related products shall positively promote the use of the DAT logo. 5 Copyright of the DAT logo 5.1 The use of the DAT logo is recommended, but left to the discretion of the manufacturers concerned. 5.2 Should a third party claim the rights on the use of any of the DAT logo types, he who receives the claim shall notify the EIAJ without delay. The EIAJ can be contacted at the following address: ELECTRONIC INDUSTRIES ASSOCIATION OF JAPAN 3-2-2 Marunouchi, Chiyodaku, Tokyo 100 Japan 6 Supply of DAT logo information The manufacturer who wishes to use the DAT logo shall ask EIAJ for clean proofs of the DAT logo types. 7 Detailed specification of the DAT logo 7.1 Figure 1 shows the basic DAT logo. 7.2 The DAT logo type may be enlarged or reduced. 7.3 Figure 2, Figure 3, and Figure 4 show modified DAT logos. These modified logo types may be used only under the following conditions. 7.3.1 Figure 2: Solid DAT logo When printing obscures the details of the striped DAT logo. 7.3.2 Figure 3: Wide letters for Digital Audio Tape When printing obscures the details of the characters of Digital Audio Tape. 7.3.3 Figure 4: Solid DAT logo with extended letters for Digital Audio Tape When the letters become obscured, as in cases 7.3.1 and 7.3.2.
