BRITISH STANDARD AUTOMOBILE SERIES BS AU 184:1982 ISO 4100:1980 Specification for World parts manufacturer identifier code (WPMI) for road vehicles ISO title: Road vehicles World parts manufacturer identifier (WPMI) code UDC 629.11.01:003.62 Licensed Copy: London South Bank University, London South Bank University, Sat Dec 09 01:49:48 GMT+00:00 2006, Uncontrolled Copy, (c) BSI BS AU 184:1982 This British Standard, having been prepared under the direction of the Automobile Standards Committee, was published under the authority of the Board of BSI and comes into effect on 31 December 1982 © BSI 02-2000 The following BSI references relate to the work on this standard: Committee reference AUE/15 Draft for comment 77/73905 DC ISBN 0 580 13111 4 National foreword This British Standard has been prepared under the direction of the Automobile Standards Committee and is identical with ISO 4100 “Road vehicles World parts manufacturer identifier (WPMI) code” prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 22, Road vehicles, and published in 1980 by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Terminology and conventions. The text of the International Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as a British Standard without deviation. Some terminology and certain conventions are not identical with those used in British Standards; attention is especially drawn to the following. Wherever the words “International Standard” appear, referring to this standard, they should be read as “British Standard”. There is no British Standard corresponding to ISO 3833:1977 to which reference is made in clause 3. The Technical Committee has reviewed the provisions of that International Standard and has decided that they are acceptable for use in conjunction with this standard. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity from legal obligations. Summary of pages This document comprises a front cover, an inside front cover, pages i and ii, pages 1 to 4, an inside back cover and a back cover. This standard has been updated (see copyright date) and may have had amendments incorporated. This will be indicated in the amendment table on the inside front cover. Nor is the purpose to identify each part but merely the manufacturer who has taken the responsibility for it. 2 Field of application This International Standard applies only to manufacturers of parts intended to be used on road vehicles as defined in ISO 3833. 3 References ISO 3780, Road vehicles World manufacturer identifier (WMI) code.
