This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by January 2006, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by January 2006. This document supersedes HD 1001:1984. This document is divided in two parts, Part 1 gives a list of equivalent terms and Part 2 gives a vocabulary with definitions. The list is not intended to be exhaustive and it is not a dictionary. Some terms and their equivalences can differ from those preferred and designated in other European Standards or standards at a national level. The terms and their equivalences in this list have been selected and decided by the CEN/TC 38 experts in drafting the documents from which the terms have been drawn, and in operating the biological and chemical methods on wood preservatives and wood durability to which they relate. The list establishes the preferred terms and their equivalences for the CEN/TC 38 series of standards at the time of its drafting. It provides the basis for ensuring that the terminology adopted in the revision of existing standards and in the drafting of future standards in the CEN/TC 38 series is harmonised and consistent. Für eindeutige Festlegungen in diesen Normen ist eine Gleichwertigkeit der Begriffe notwendig. Es ist weder eine vollständige Liste beabsichtigt, noch handelt es sich um ein Wörterbuch. Einige Begriffe können in ihrer Gleichwertigkeit von denjenigen abweichen, die in anderen Europäischen Normen oder Normen auf nationaler Ebene bevorzugt und festgelegt wurden. Begriffe und ihre gleichwertigen Entsprechungen in dieser Liste wurden durch Experten des CEN/TC 38 ausgewählt und beschlossen, indem sie diese Dokumente formuliert haben, aus denen die Begriffe entnommen wurden, und die biologischen und chemischen Methoden für Holzschutzmittel und die Dauerhaftigkeit des Holzes festgelegt haben, auf die sich die Begriffe beziehen.
