It shall be used together with EN 2591-100. 2Normative references This European Standard incorporates by dated or undated reference provisions from other publications. For dated references, subsequent amendments to or revisions of any of these publications apply to this European Standard only when incorporated in it by amendment or revision. EN 2591-100Aerospace series Elements of electrical and optical connection Test methods Part 100: General 1) EN 2591-102Aerospace series Elements of electrical and optical connection Test methods Part 102: Examination of dimensions and mass 3Preparation of specimens 3.1The specimens shall be checked as specified in EN 2591-102 and prepared as specified: 50 % with cables of the maximum section allowed by contact; 50 % with cables of the minimum section allowed by contact. The contacts shall be crimped with the specified tools. 3.2Unless specified in the technical specification, the following details shall be stated: type of cable; minimum and maximum sections of conductors for each contact size; crimping tools; number of specimens; requirements. 4Apparatus It shall consist of a test device which allows contact rotation and does not cause: any additional excentricity exceeding 1 % of the original contact excentricity; any contact deformation due to the method of holding. ? 1) Published as AECMA Prestandard at the date of publication of this standard Licensed Copy: sheffieldun sheffieldun, na, Thu Nov 02 18:08:14 GMT+00:00 2006, Uncontrolled Copy, (c) BSI EN 2591-503:2001 (E) 4 5Method 5.1Procedure Install the contacts on the rotating device. Measure and record excentricity whilst rotating the specimen through 360°. 5.2Requirements 5.2.1For a rotation of 360° the contact excentricity shall not exceed the specified value. 5.2.2For a rotation of 360° the opening up of the crimp barrel in the crimp area shall not exceed the specified value. 5.2.3No crack shall be visible under three times magnification.
