It is identical with IEC 264-3-1:1989 published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). BS EN 60264, of which there are four Parts, deals with the packaging of winding wires. Part 1 covers containers, Part 2 covers cylindrical barrelled delivery spools, Part 3 covers taper barrelled delivery spools and Part 4 covers methods of test. This British Standard is one of a series dealing with insulated wires used for windings in electrical equipment, which comprises the following three groups. IEC 851, Methods of test for winding wires. IEC 317, Specifications for particular types of winding wires. IEC 264, Packaging of winding wires. NOTEBS 6811 Winding wires Part 0:1993 General introduction and list of Parts lists the various Sections of BS 6811 and BS 7584 against the corresponding Parts of the IEC standards listed above. Table I lists preferred spools. For special applications, spool types given in Table II can be used.
