The series consists of three Parts: Part 1: Definitions, classification and general requirements (IEC 1086-1); Part 2: Methods of test (IEC 1086-2); Part 3: Specifications for individual materials (IEC 1086-3). This standard contains one of the sheets comprising Part 3, that is: Sheet 1: Coatings for general purpose (class I) and high reliability (class II). 1 Scope This sheet of IEC 1086-3 gives the methods of test for electrical insulating materials suitable for application as coatings for loaded printed wire boards (conformal coatings). 2 Normative references The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this sheet of IEC 1086-3. At the time of publication, the editions indicated were valid. All normative documents are subject to revision, and parties to agreements based on this sheet of IEC 1086-3 are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the normative documents indicated below. Members of IEC and ISO maintain registers of currently valid International Standards. IEC 1086-1:1992, Specification for coatings for loaded printed wire boards (conformal coatings) Part 1: Definitions, classification and general requirements. IEC 1086-2:1992, Specification for coatings for loaded printed wire boards (conformal coatings) Part 2: Methods of test. 3 Designation The designation system for these materials is given in IEC 1086-1. 4 Property requirements The material shall comply with the general requirements of clause 5 of IEC 1086-1. When tested with the relevant method described in IEC 1086-2, the material shall comply with the requirements of Table 1.
