SCOPE The material defined by this specification is a NLGI 2 grease consisting of a uniform blend of refined mineral oil, a moisture resistant, polyurea compound, and rust and oxidation inhibitor. 2. APPLICATION This specification was released originally for grease used in lubricating engine drive belt tensioner assemblies and water pump bearings. This material is designed for high speed, high temperature operation of ball and roller bearings. The operating temperature for this material is - 29 to 177 oC. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.0 STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR PRODUCTION MATERIALS Materials suppliers and part producers must conform to the Company's Standard Requirements For Production Materials (WSS-M99P1111-A). 3.1.1 Initial Qualifications Supplier must furnish to the affected Materials Engineering activity a completed and certified copy of the attached Supplement A and test reports demonstrating full compliance with all the detailed requirements of this specification. 3.1.2 Control Plan Supplier and affected Materials Engineering activity shall establish mutually agreed upon quality control limits, which will be listed on Supplement B, and will be used for ongoing product verifications at mutually agreed upon frequencies. 3.4 CONSISTENCY Material shall be a smooth homogeneous product free from abrasive particles, it shall be consistent in color and texture, and free from objectionable odors during normal storage. It shall be suitable for the intended application. 5. GENERAL INFORMATION The information given below is provided for clarification and assistance in meeting the requirements of this specification. 5.1 Supplement C is to be used for additional information required for initial qualification.
