This specification covers the properties of a 30% glass fiber reinforced, UV stable, impact modified, heat stabilized, reduced moisture nylon 6, pellet form injection molding compound. 1.1 APPLICATIONS. Typical applications include the fol- lowing: interior door handles. 2 REFERENCED STANDARDS. GM1002M IS0 188 IS0 379.5 ASTM D789 IS0 294/l SAE J369 ASTM D4019 IS0 527 SAE J1.545 ASTM E831 IS0 960 SAE J1639 IS0 75 IS0 1183 SAE 51756 IS0 178 IS0 3146 SAE J1885 IS0 180/1A IS0 3451/4 3 REQUIREMENTS. Material approved to this specifi- cation shall meet the standard requirements in GM1002M. 3.1 COMPOUND CERTIFICATION. Material suppliers must certify molding compound properties to the specific GM Test Sampling Plan approved for their material. 3.2 COMPOUND PROPERTIES (NATURAL AND BLACK). See Table 1. 4 TEST PROCEDURES. 4.1 Test specimens shall be injection molded per IS0 294/l, as described in SAE 51639 unless otherwise specified. 4.2 All test values indicated herein are based on material with moisture content of 0.2% maximum (IS0 960, Method A; ASTM D789). Immediately after molding, specimens shall be sealed in moisture-proof containers and stored 23 f 2°C for at least 24 h. All tests shall be performed on unannealed speci- mens immediately after their removal from the containers in a controlled atmosphere of 23 k 2°C and 50 f 5% RH unless otherwise specified. 4.3 COLORFASTNESS EVALUATION PROCEDURE. The color of each test specimen shall be measured per SAE J1545, CIELAB color space, 10” observer, illuminant D65, specular included, sphere geometry, before and after exposure. 4.4 A shear modulus plotted curve, as defined in SAB J1639, shall be provided with each GMP certification package. The temperature range, at 5C intervals, is -50 to +21OC. 5 GENERAL INFORMATION. This standard was origi- nated by the Plastics Committee in November 1994 and approved in April 1996.
