This Standard employs IS0 7042 : 1997 Prevailing torque type all-metal hexagon nuts, style 2-Property classes 5, 8, 10 and 12, IS0 7719 : 1997 Prevailing torque type all-metal hexagon nuts, style 1-Property classes 5, 8 and 10, IS0 7720 : 1997 Preuailing torque type all-metal hexagon nuts style 2-Property class 9 and IS0 10513 : 1997 Prevailing torque type all-metal hexagon nuts, style 2, with metric fine pitch thread-Property classes 8, 10 and 12 as a basis for the purpose of conforming Japanese Industrial Standards to International Standards. This Standard group consists of the following four parts with a title of Prevailing torque type nuts. Part 1 : Hexagon nuts with non-metallic insert Part 2 : All-metal hexagon nuts Part 3 : Hexagon nuts with flange with non-metallic insert Part 4 : All-metal hexagon nuts with flange Date of Establishment: 2001-01-20 Date of Public Notice in Official Gazette: 2001-01-22 Investigated by: Japanese Industrial Standards Committee Divisional Council on Machine Elements JIS B 1199-2: 2001, First English edition published in 2002-07 Translated and published by: Japanese Standards Association 4-1-24, Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo, 107-8440 JAPAN In the event of any doubts arising as to the contents, the original JIS is to be the final authority. In addition, JIS B 1199 specifying prevailing torque type nut products consists of four parts. The relation between each part and the International Standards cor- responding thereto is shown in Annex 1 (informative). 1 Scope This Standard specifies the characteristics of prevailing torque type all- metal hexagon nuts for general use. If other specifications are required, they should be selected from existing stan- dards, for example JIS B 0205, JIS B 0207, JIS B 0209, JIS 3 0211 and JIS B 1056. The International Standards corresponding to this Standard are as follows. In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) ac- cording to ISO/IEC Guide 21.
