THE US REPLACEMENT LIGHT TRUCK TIRE MARKET SHARE OF MAJOR PLAYERS, 2011 The US replacement light truck tire industry is predominantly held by 6 major players which contribute over 56% of the total replacement light truck tire market. Michelin is at the top position with the market share of 16.1% and shipments of 4.7 million units in 2011. Michelin had launched Michelin LTX M/S2 tire in the market in 2009. These tires are quite safe, long lasting and reliable. Additionally they can work in dry, wet and wintry conditions. Bridgestone is the second largest player with market share of 14.3% and shipments of 4.1 million units in 2011 which is followed by Goodyear which is at the third position with the market share of 11.5% and shipments of 3.3 million units. They have introduced Wrangler Silent Armor with Durawall technology which reduces the cut and punctures of the tires. Cooper holds the fourth position with the market share of 5.8% and shipments of 1.7 million units whereas Multi-Multi and Yokohama is at the fifth and sixth position with the market share of 4.6% and 4.2% and shipments of 1.3 million and 1.2 million units respectively. On the other hand, other players in this segment such as Hankook, Toyo, Falken, Kumho, Uniroyal, Cordovan and others contribute the remaining 44% in the overall light truck tire shipments in 2011. THE US REPLACEMENT MEDIUM/HEAVY TRUCK TIRE MARKET SHARE OF MAJOR PLAYERS, 2011 The US replacement heavy truck tire industry forms a minor share in the total revenue of the US replacement tire industry. The US replacement heavy truck tire industry is dominated by 5 major players contributing over 73% to the total replacement tire shipments in 2011. Bridgestone being the leader with the market share of 24.5%. Bridgestone has expanded their heavy truck tire production in the US market in order to meet the demand for tires. In 2011, Michelin contributed around 19.8% to the truck tire market. Michelin has introduced new X one XDA Energy tires which have an innovative belt design and advanced technology compound which result in saving fuel up to 2.5%. Michelin Americas truck tires have also entered in a corporative agreement with AMBEST in order to expand their service in truck industry which will include a network of 68 truck repair and maintenance facilities in over 30 states across the US. This will aid Michelin to leverage the distribution channel with additional capacity to provide emergency road services. Goodyear is at the third position with the market share of 14.5% in 2011. Yokohama is the fourth largest player contributing 9.4% to the total medium and heavy truck tires shipment in the US followed by Continental which has a market share of 5.3% in 2011. The rest of the market share is captured by Double Coin, Hankook, Dunlop, Dynatrac, Hercules and others which contributed 26.5% of the total US medium and heavy truck tires shipment in 2011. THE US REPLACEMENT FARM TIRE MARKET SHARE OF MAJOR PLAYERS, 2011 The replacement farm tire market of the US has been led by Goodyear with 33.8% market share and shipment of 732.5 thousand units in 2011. Goodyear has launched Wrangler Dura Trac tires with Tractivegroove Technology which is suitable for deep mud and snow. Bridgestone is second in the list with the market share of 27.9%. Balkrishna Industries Limited (BKT) lied at the third position with the market share of 19.1% in 2011. Alliance and the Trelleborg are at the fourth and fifth position with the market share of 2.8% and 2.2% respectively followed by Michelin with 1.4% in 2011. THE US REPLACEMENT REAR RADIAL FARM TIRE MARKET SHARE OF MAJOR PLAYERS, 2011 The US replacement rear radial farm tire is the segment of the replacement farm tires and the sub segment of replacement tires. The replacement rear radial farm tire is a concentrated market with Goodyear being the leader by 32.3% market share followed by Bridgestone with market share of 25.1% in 2011. Balkrishna Industries Limited (BKT) is at that the third position with the market share of 15.8% in 2011. Michelin stand at the fourth position with the contribution of 9.8% in the rear radial farm tire segment in 2011. The players such as Alliance and Trelleborg have a minor share in the total replacement rear radial farm tire segments. THE US REPLACEMENT REAR BIAS FARM TIRE MARKET SHARE OF MAJOR PLAYERS, 2011 Goodyear dominates the US replacement rear bias farm tire market with 30.9% of the market share in 2011. Balkrishna Industries Limited (BKT) offered a tough competition to the Goodyear by capturing the 30.4% of the market share in 2011. Bridgestone stand at the third position with market share of 26.8% in 2011.The small player such as Harvest king, Alliance and Trelleborg are also present in this market with the minor share in the total rear bias farm tire industry. THE US REPLACEMENT SMALL FARM TIRE MARKET SHARE OF MAJOR PLAYERS, 2011 The replacement small farm tire segment in the US is being led by Goodyear with 34.7% market share in 2011. Bridgestone is at the second position with market share of 28.5% in 2011. The next player in the list is Balkrishna Industries Limited (BKT) who is way behind Goodyear and Bridgestone with the market share of 15.5% in 2011. The other players such as Harvest King, American Farmer, Carlisle and Trelleborg have a very small market share in the whole small farm tire segments. THE US REPLACEMENT TIRE INDUSTRY FUTURE OUTLOOK The US replacement tire market is a saturated market with the presence of large number of players. This industry witnessed growth after recession in 2009. The global economic unrest in 2009 has cannibalized the sales of replacement tires in the US by approximately 11.9%.
