3、anTemple of Confucius The complex is the second largest historical building complex in China.It covers an area of 16,000 square meters and has a total of 460rooms.The main part of the temple consists of 9 courtyards arranged on a central axis（轴线）,which is oriented（定的方位）in the north-south direction a

4、nd is 1,3km in length.Temple of ConfuciusMain buildings:The Kuiwen Hall(奎文阁）The Xing Tan Pavilion(杏坛）The Dacheng Hall(大成殿）The Hall of Confucius wife(寝殿）The shengji Hall(圣迹殿）The Dacheng Hall Its the most principal building and served as the principal place for offering sacrifices(祭品)to the memory of

6、y mansion located to the east of the temple.They were in charge of tending to the temple and cemetery.Today,the mansion comprises 152 buildings with 480 rooms,which cover an area of 12,470 square metres.In particular,they were in charge of conducting religious ceremonies on occasions such as plantin
