2、dcomesasazipfilewiththefollowingname:NetAppSANtricity10.83Vl.zip.Unzipthisfileintoafolderofyourchoice.WithinthisfolderwillbetheDEMOfolderandsimplynavigatethereandexecutethebatchfilenamedStartE-Series_1083_Vlpkg.Yourereadytogo!HelpfulHints WhentheinstallationoftheSANtricitySimulatoriscompleted,itisno

3、tnecessarytorebootyoursystembeforeexecutingtheStartE-Series_1083_Vlpkgbatchfile. IfyouhavehadpreviousversionsoftheSimulatorinstalled,ghostsystemsmayappearandhaveastatusofunresponsive.Tocorrect,simplydeleteanyunresponsivesystemsandrediscoverthedisksystems.GettingStartedExecutingStartE-Series_1083_Vlp

4、kgstartsaJavasessionwiththeSANtricitySimulator.YoullseetheSANtricityStorageManagersplashscreenfollowedbyoneofthetwofollowingscreens:IfthisisthefirsttimeyouveinstalledtheSANtricitySimulator,youllseetheSelectAdditionMethodscreenaskingtoautomaticallydiscoverstoragesubsystems.SelectOK.Ifyouvehadprevious

5、versionsoftheSANtricitySimulator,youllseetheSetupTabintheEnterpriseManagementWindow.ClickAddStorageSubsystems,selecttheAutomaticoptionfromthenextwindowandclickOKzthenclickOKonelasttime.Oncetheautomaticdiscoveryiscomplete,selectthedevicestabtoseethesystems.*M、号X、Asnotedearlier,youmayseeunresponsivegh

6、ostsystemsfrompreviousSimulatorsessions.Ifso,simplyremove(delete)themandthenAddStorageSubsystemfromtheSetuptab.Therearetwooptionstoselectasystemtomanage:ClickManageaStorageArrayfromtheSetuptab,thenselectthesystemyouwishtomanage;orGototheDevicestabanddouble-clickonthesystemyouwishtomanage.Selectingth

10、ces,HostMappings,orHardwaretabsandright-clickingontheappropriateobject,whichwewilldemonstrateinthecomingpages.TheStorage&CopyServicestabisthesecondtabaccessiblefromtheArrayWindow.ArrayManagementWindow-Storage&CopyServicesTabTheStorage&CopyServicespaneprovidesatree-structuredviewofthearraysdiskconfig

11、urations.Clickingtheplus(+)signortheminus(一)signadjacenttothearraywillexpandorcollapsetheview.Theseviewsunderthestoragearrayincludeun-configuredcapacityaswellasconfiguredvolumegroupsandtheirassociatedvolumes.SANtricitySnapshots,ifany,canalsobeviewedfromthevolumesinwhichtheyreside.TheStorageArraypane

12、providesdetailedinformationaboutthecomponentselectedintheStorage&CopyServicespane.Theinformationvariesdependingonwhattypeofcomponentisselected.Informationmayincludewhetherthecomponentisinanoptimalstatus,totalcapacity,RAIDlevel,mediaandinterfacetypeaswellascontrollerownership.Thephysicalcomponentsove

13、rviewisprovidedintheStorageArraypaneandisassociatedwiththelogicalcomponentselectedintheStorage&CopyServicespane.Agreaterdetailedviewcanbefoundbyright-clickingacomponent,andselecting“ViewAssociatedPhysicalComponentsw.ThisphysicalviewcanalsoberetrievedbyselectingtheHardwaretabwhichwillbecoverednext.As

14、mentionedearlier,ingeneral,selectinganobject(array,volume,controller,drive)andright-clickingpopsupalistofcommandsassociatedwiththeobject.Thesamecontrolisalsoachievedbyusingtheequivalentmenuselectionitem.Forexample,right-clickingavolumegroup:Right-clickCommands:.providesthesameoptionsasclickingontheS

15、toragemenuoption:TheHardwaretabprovidesbothaphysicalviewofthestoragearrayaswellasdetailedinformationregardingthephysicalcomponents.WithintheHardwaretab,theHardwarepaneappearsontheleftandtheassociatedpropertiesappearsontheright.TheHardwarepaneshowsagraphicalrepresentationofthephysicalcomponentsinthes

16、toragesubsystem,suchastheRAIDcontrollermodulesandtheexpansionenclosureswhiledetailedinformationaboutthecomponentthatisselectedintheHardwarepaneisdisplayedontheright.ThedropdownmenuintheHardwarepaneallowstheuserselectwhichphysicalcomponentstheywouldlikedisplayedinontheright.TheHostMappingstabprovides
