1、NetApp,Replacingacontrollermoduleina32xxorSA320systemToreplaceacontrollermodule,youmustremovethefaultycontrollermodulefromthesystemandmovethereplaceablecomponentsfromtheoldcontrollermoduletothenewcontrollermodule.Youtheninstallthenewcontrollermoduleinthesystemchassis.BeforeyoubeginAlldiskshelvesmust

2、beworkingproperly.IfyoursystemisinanHApair,thepartnernodemustbeabletotakeoverthenodethatisbeingreplaced(referredtointhisprocedureasthetargetnode).AboutthistaskThisprocedureisforsystemsrunningDataONTAP8.l.x,8.0.x,or7.3.xonly. ThisprocedurereferstoHApairs,whichinreleasespriortoDataONTAP8.0werecalledac

3、tivc/activcconfigurations.YoumustreplacethefailedcomponentwithareplacementFRUcomponentyoureceivedfromyourprovider. Youmustbereplacingacontrollermodulewithacontrollermoduleofthesamemodeltype;youcannotupgradeyoursystembyjustreplacingthecontrollermodule.Youcannotchangeanydisksordiskshelvesaspartofthisp

17、LOADERprompt.Attention:Youmustperformacleansystemshutdownbeforereplacingsystemcomponentstoavoidlosingunwrittendatainthenonvolatilememory(NVMEM).TheNVMEMLEDislocatedonthecontrollermoduletotherightofthenetworkports,markedwithabatterysymbol.IftheNVMEMLEDisflashing,thereiscontentintheNVMEMthathasnotbeen

18、savedtodisk.Youneedtorebootthecontrollermoduleandproceedfromthebeginningofthisprocedure.Ifrepeatedattemptstocleanlyshutdownthecontrollermodulefail,beawarethatyoumightloseanydatathatwasnotsavedtodisk.NVMEMLED2. Ifyouarcnotalreadygrounded,properlygroundyourself.3. Turnoffthepowersuppliesandunplugbothp

19、owercordsfromthepowersource:Ifyoursystemuses.Then.ACpowersuppliesUnplugthepowercordsfromthepowersource,andthenremovethepowercords.DCpowersuppliesRemovethepowerattheDCsource,andremovetheDCwires,ifnecessary.RemovingthecontrollermoduleandmovingthecomponentsYoumustremovetheoldcontrollermodulefromthechas

20、sisandmoveallficld-rcplaccablccomponentsfromtheoldcontrollermoduletothenewcontrollermodule.AboutthistaskToreducethepossibilityofdamagetothereplaceablecomponents,youshouldminimizehandlingbyinstallingthecomponentsintothenewcontrollermoduleassoonasyouremovethemfromtheoldcontrollermodule.Note:Youmustals

Alignthetabsonthebatteryholderwiththenotchesinthecontrollermoduleside,andgentlypushthebatteryhousingsothatthenotchesarcunderthelipofthecontrollermoduleside.7. Whilegentlypushingthebatteryagainstthesheetmetalonthech

32、assistoholditinthebatteryguide,placetheforefingerofyourfreehandagainstthebatteryhousingbehindthelockingtabonthebattery,andthengentlypushthebatteryhousingawayfromtheCPUairduct.Ifitisproperlyaligned,thebatterysnapsintoplaceonthesideofthecontrollermodule.Ifitdoesnot,repeatthesesteps.8. Inthenewcontroll

33、ermodule,seatthebatteryintheholderandplugthebatterycableintothesocket.Theplugshouldlockdownontothesocketonthecontrollermodule.MovingtheDIMMstothenewcontrollermoduleYoumustremovetheDIMMsfromtheoldcontrollermodule,beingcarefultonotetheirlocationssothatyoucanreinstalltheminthecorrectsocketsinthenewcont

Attention:CarefullyholdtheDIMMbytheedgestoavoidpressureonthecomponentsontheDIMMcircuit
