21、orylimitationspriortouse.1 ScopeThisdocumentspecifiesametallographictestmethodfordeterminingthenon-metallicinclusionlevelinmetalpowdersusingapowder-forgedspecimen.Thistestmethodisapplicabletorepresspowder-forgedtestspecimensinwhichtherehasbeenminimallateralflow(1%).Thecoreregionofthepowder-forgedtes
22、tspecimenmustnotcontainporositydetectableat100xmagnification.Thistestmethodcanalsobeappliedtodeterminethenon-metallicinclusioncontentofpowder-forgedsteelparts.However,inpartswheretherehasbeenasignificantamountofmaterialflow,thenear-neighbourseparationdistanceneedstobechanged,ortheinclusionsizesagree
23、dbetweenthepartiesneedtobeadjusted.Thistestmethodisnotapplicablefordeterminingthenon-metallicinclusionlevelofpartsthathavebeenforgedsuchthatthecoreregioncontainsporosity.Atthemagnificationusedforthistestmethod,residualporosityishardtodistinguishfrominclusions.Toomuchresidualporositymakesameaningfula
